Baltimore;

Maryland was one of the original thirteen American colonies that rebelled against British rule during the American Revolution. Maryland was the 13th state to approve the ratification of the Articles of Confederation and it became the seventh state admitted to the United States after ratifying the Constitution. Maryland's economy is built on manufacturing, agriculture, and commercial fishing enterprises. The Governor Calvert House is one of the oldest buildings in Annapolis. The home dates back to 1695. The Calvert family was a prominent Maryland family and lived in the house from 1727 until the American Revolution. The home features a hypocaust heating system, which is a primitive system constructed of wood and bricks and is thought to be one of the earliest examples of this technology in the United States.
