Architecture throughout History

There are many wonderful buildings and structures that have been developed over your lifetime; however, have you ever sat back to give any thought to some of the amazing structures that were built in the past? If you take the time to look at the many beautiful, memorable buildings throughout the years, it is quite easy to see how so many of them have become the inspiration for architects well into the future. As a matter of fact, many architectural finds are pretty much the equivalent of works of art created by some of the top artists to be found all over the world.
When you take a moment to find a distinction between many of the buildings that have been born throughout architectural history, you will see that there are many things that go into each trend as the years go by. Certainly, advances are always being made in the way that we not only design structures, but also in the types of materials that go into the actual construction itself. Even some of the earliest structures, although they were made of primitive, simple materials, are some of the most wondrous pieces in architectural history.
While the majority of the structures built long ago were made solely to serve a purpose, many of them ended up becoming breathtaking sights that have been studied by art and architecture students alike. While such wonderful aesthetics are pretty much accidental when you are speaking of ancient structures, they still have a great impact on the foundation of architecture today as we know it. Through every step of the way as buildings were designed many years ago, you can see how they evolved and paved the way for some of the wonderful buildings that we have today.
With regards to medieval times, you can begin to notice that architecture took on both a functional and aesthetic feel. Many of the buildings from that time were built in a manner that would allow light to naturally flow into the space, which gave a wonderful new feel to the architectural aspect of the time. Further down the road, open spaces began to grow in popularity, with a number of architects in the Renaissance era creating open courtyards and grand halls.
It really goes without saying that the rich history of architecture has had quite an effect on each and every architect in the field today. With so many wonderful designs of the past, one can draw from each vision and create something incredible and monumental that will be remembered for generations and generations. All of the styles of the past can meld together and bring forth something that is architecturally genius. That thought, paired with the simple fact that technology in terms of 3-D rendering and CAD, also known as computer-aided design, brings to light the notion that there really is no end to the kinds of structures that we could see coming to fruition in the near future.
As an architect, you can take into account the great architects of the past, draw from their ideas and learn from their mistakes as well. The next building or home that you design may end up being the inspiration for a new, revised model in the future. You are guaranteed to find that history usually always repeats itself when it comes to the many faces of architecture.
