Florida Technical College
Florida Technical College was founded in 1982 and currently specializes in short-term career training in occupational specific fields. Florida Technical College has three Florida locations in the cities of Orlando, Lakeland, and Deland. FTC is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to grant career academic diplomas and associate of science degrees. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Florida Technical College offers 14 programs including medical assistant, network administration, programming, electronics, business management, computer-aided drafting and design, medical administrative assistant, web and graphic design, paralegal, criminal justice, C++, Java, network administration, medical assistant technology, and medical billing and coding. The programs are designed to be flexible and efficient. Classes are offered at convenient times during the day and the evening allowing students to be able to keep their outside commitments while attending school.
The Computer-Aided Drafting and Design program is an associate's degree option that is comprised of general education, business, and engineering design courses. The goal of the program is to prepare students for entry-level work as a CAD operator. The program features hands-on training using the latest CAD software and instruments. A graduate of the program may take a position as a CAD trainer, entry-level draftsperson, civil surveying draftsperson, mechanical drafter, interior designer, or electrical draftsperson.
Students at Florida Technical College also receive a full menu of student services to help them achieve their goals. Students can receive group and one-on-one tutoring, academic advising, and help with their study and time management skills. Also available are the career services that help students learn the skills they need to help them land the job they want. Students are taught critical career skills such as how to write a proper resume and cover letter, how to interview for industry specific jobs, how to dress professionally, and how to network with employers.
