Pennsylvania Institute of Technology

The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology was founded in 1953 by a practicing engineer known as Walter R. Garrison. Over the years the school expanded from engineering and mathematics to offering a wide degree of nursing and architectural drafting programs. Today the school offers a variety of two year degrees and one year certificates in Allied Heath, Nursing, Business Administration Technology, Engineering Technology, and Computer Information Technology. Pennsylvania Institute is accredited by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education and has been approved as a two year school by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The school offers a one year career certificate program as a Drafting Technology Specialist. Students participating in the program are prepared with the necessary skills needed to become successful working in a fast paced computer design and drafting work environment. Students learn how to use several CAD applications used in architectural design, civil engineering projects, and mechanical developments. Geometric theory and technical design fundamentals are strongly emphasized in the program and students graduate feeling comfortable and confident in their field of study, making them marketable in the workforce.

A multimedia library is available for students to gain access to the school. This resource is important for potential students as it emphasizes recent videos of students and alumni and provides access to a virtual tour and campus photo tour. Other student services include academic support counseling, career planning for degree seeking students, and externship placement. National and international honor societies including Phi Theta Kappa and Chi Alpha Epsilon are also recognized on campus.

A student lounge is located in the Technology Center and includes a gaming area for students to kick back and unwind after a hard day of classes and study. The student lounge includes a pool table, computer games, comfortable chairs and tables, and a television.
