TESST College of Technology

TESST College of Technology opened its doors in 1957 offering only studies in electronics. The original campus was located in Hyattsville, Maryland. Today the college is located in three locations: Baltimore, Beltsville, and Towson. In 2002, the college was obtained by a subsidiary of Kaplan Incorporated and the campus and facilities expanded to include a wider range of academic programs. The college is accredited through the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges and approved by the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. The Baltimore campus is the largest of the three and offers the most variety of programs including studies in Allied Health, Information Technology, Trades, and Design.

The Design school at the Baltimore campus includes a certificate program in Graphic Engineering Drafting with CADD. The primary objective of the program is to prepare students for entry level employment in the graphic engineering and drafting field. The CADD program emphasizes the creation of technical drawings, instruction in machine drafting, architectural drafting, electronics drafting, drafting related mathematics and geometry, drafting related physics applications, and presentation abilities. Students who successfully graduate from the Graphic Engineering Drafting with CADD certificate program become qualified to obtain entry level employment in architectural, manufacturing, machinery, or engineering industries.

A professional student services department is available on campus and is made up of a large career services department. Career planning is important to the staff at TESST and the department offers a number of workshops to ensure students receive adequate preparation before applying for employment. Workshops include resume writing skills, interviewing techniques, proper interview attire, making a favorable first impression, and employment search strategies. Online resources and Internet based programs are available to students and alumni to assist with employment searches. A large database of employers who have hired TESST graduates is available to the students who have completed minimum graduation requirements.
