Westwood College
Westwood College was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1953. Today there are over 17 campuses across California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, and Virginia. The college also has an online division where students can complete their education completely over the Internet. Westwood employs over 3,000 employees, including 1,200 instructors. Over 24,000 students have graduated from Westwood College since it opened its doors over 50 years ago.
Westwood College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges or the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. Both organizations are recognized by the United States Department of Education as legitimate accrediting agencies. Westwood has been authorized by these agencies to award associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees to students who successfully meet graduation requirements.
Westwood is comprised of seven colleges including the School of Technology, School of Design, School of Business, School of Justice, School of Industrial Services, and School of Professional Studies. All degree programs offered at Westwood College fall under the auspices of one of these schools. Many programs are offered both online and at one of Westwood College's campus locations.
The Computer-Aided Design/Architectural Drafting Associate of Science degree is currently offered at 13 campus locations throughout the Westwood College educational network. The program focuses on teaching students essential skills that are required in the field of drafting and engineering design. Topics covered in the program include basic drafting, residential and commercial CAD design, residential and commercial construction documents, and 3D AutoCAD.
At the end of the program students should be prepared to sit for a variety of industry certification exams that make them more marketable to employers. Many graduates of the program take positions as architectural drafters, CAD drafters, structural drafters, and surveyors. Upon graduation, students also receive career placement assistance to help them find a job in their new career field.
